Living in a five-star old brand is the most afraid of "looking old", but it makes me feel at ease stepping barefoot on the ground
When I go out to stay in a hotel, I have a bad habit - I take off my shoes first when I enter, walk barefoot around, and then decide whether or not to spread out my luggage. For this two-day trip to Nanjing, I chose the Grand Metropark Hotel Nanjing at 319 Zhongshan East Road. I received some reviews of 'outdated facilities' beforehand, which actually made me feel discouraged. However, when I opened the door, I breathed a sigh of relief.
The floor is dry and dust-free when stepped on, and the dead corners such as the bed edge and skirting board that are prone to dust accumulation are wiped clean. I specifically touched the gap between the headboard and the writing desk with my hand, and there was no sticky feeling. As an old five-star brand that opened in 1997 and underwent partial renovation in 2018, the "old" of Weijing is more about the stability of style and materials, rather than the kind of old that is neglected - this is crucial for cleanliness enthusiasts.
The bathroom is the area I focus on inspecting. The dry and wet separation is done neatly, with no water stains or aging marks on the glass partition, and no obvious blackening of the tile joints; The smart toilet seat is clean, the button area is fingerprint free, and the washbasin, mirror cabinet handle, and storage rack all exude a refreshing feeling of "just been carefully wiped". The spare parts are French Oulong, with intact seals. The shower hot water comes out quickly, the water temperature is stable, the drainage is also neat, and there is no water accumulation or odor.
In the bedding part, the quilt cover and pillow cover are flat without wrinkles, and there is no smell of bleach and acne, nor the perfume/tobacco aftertaste left by the previous resident - I am particularly sensitive to this, and the vision is qualified. The pillow offers a variety of hardness options, and the mattress is moderately soft and hard, allowing you to sleep soundly for two nights. Sound insulation also indirectly serves a sense of cleanliness: after closing the windows, the traffic on Zhongshan East Road is basically isolated, and there is no disturbance from corridor sounds at night.
The hygiene in public areas is also online. The lobby is high and there is no dust accumulation in the crystal chandelier area; The first floor restaurant promptly refills the dining table without spilling, and the self-service breakfast duck blood vermicelli soup stall is wiped by waiters in front and behind; The indoor swimming pool has a clear water color, and there are many feedback from guests stating that the pool is clean. Although I didn't go into the water, I took a look around the pool and found no standing water on the shore and no stains on the handrails.
What impressed me the most was the sense of initiative in the details: when I returned from the night bed service, I found that the water bottle had been replaced with a new sealing film, the trash can had been emptied, and the bathing supplies were replenished according to usage; The next day, before going out, I ran into a cleaning lady in the hallway and asked proactively, 'Do we still need to tidy up the room?'. What I am most satisfied with is the response speed of the conference coffee break service - when we request to add a set of power strips and printing materials at the last minute, the conference staff can deliver them to the table within five minutes. The flow during leisure time is also quite comfortable. At half past seven in the morning, I jogged along Zhongshan East Road. The Ming Palace Ruins Park is two or three hundred meters away. The air is mixed with the smell of wutong trees and grass. After coming back, I had breakfast at the first floor restaurant. In addition to the regular Western style cold dishes, I specially tasted the duck blood vermicelli soup here, which was steaming hot, warmed my stomach, and woke up.
